5 million metric tonne wheat to be procured in Punjab

CHIEF Minister Shahbaz Sharif has granted approval to the wheat procurement campaign 2014 in the province and said that wheat would be procured from the farmers at the fixed rate while the interests of small cultivators would be fully safeguarded.

He said the distribution of gunny bags among the farmers would be started from April 15 and the process would be completely transparent. He directed the provincial ministers and secretaries to supervise the campaign. He announced that he would also visit wheat procurement centres to personally review the situation; his aircraft and helicopter would also be available for visiting far flung oakley sale areas during wheat procurement ca oakley sale mpaign.

Presiding over a high level meeting here Monday regarding wheat procurement campaign 2014 in the province, he said wheat procurement target of 3.5 million metric tonne had been set in the province.

He stated that assembly members concerned would also be inducted into supervisory committees to be set up at the district level. He removed the timing restriction at the procurement centres and said entire wheat produce would be procured daily from the cultivators coming to the centres. He directed that proper arrangements be made at the centres for facilitating the farmers. He said full benefit would be taken from citizens’ feedback system and the role of middleman would be completely eliminated. He directed that digital monitoring system be evolved for the entire process from distribution of gunny bags to the wheat procurement. He issued orders for the screening and transfer of the Food oakley sale Department staff posted at the same place for a long period and directed that the honest and hard working officials be posted at wheat procurement centres.

Modern hospital: Shahbaz Sharif has said that a modern hospital has been constructed in district Muzaffargarh with the cooperation of Turkey. He said this hospital would be run with the cooperation of private sector and free treatment would be provided to the poor.

Presiding over a high level meeting here Monday, he said the hospital was an excellent gift of Turkish government for the people of the South Punjab, for which, government and the people of Punjab were thankful to the Turkish leadership.

Turkish team: A representative delegation of prominent construction companies of Turkey, including STFA and TAV groups met Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, here Monday, and discussed matters regarding proposed extension project of Lahore Airport. The delegation included Chief Executive of STFA Mehmet Ali Neyzi, Adviser Chairman Turkey Pakistan Business Council Riza Arsan and Investment Coordinator of TAV Bulent Ozuturk.

Talking to the Turk delegation, the CM said that several Turk companies were working in different sectors in Pakistan especially Punjab. He said that due to increase in the number of passengers, extension of Lahore Airport was the need of the hour and the interest taken by the Turk companies in the proposed extension project was a good omen. The CM welcomed the Turk delegation in Lahore.
