COMCAST PLANS TO SHED SUBSCRIBERS TO AID TIME WARNER CABLE ACQUISITION

Comcast plans to shed about 3.9 million subscribers in a deal with competitor Charter Communications Inc. to help Comcast acquisition of Time Warner Cable clear regulatory hurdles. TRIAL OPENS FOR MAN CHARGED IN SHOOTING DEATH; VICTIM FOUND DEAD IN SUV IN RAVINE

One of two men charged in the shooting death of a man found dead in a ravine in northeastern Pennsylvania last summer goes on trial this week. Jury selection begins Monday in Lackawanna County for the trial of 23 year old Jason Dominick. Twenty three year old Neil Pal is scheduled for trial in June. Both are charged with murder and conspiracy charges in the death of 24 year old Frank Bonacci, whose body was found in his SUV on a ledge above Roaring Brook in July. The Delaware County medical examiner office identified the victim as 22 year old Javon Williams of Chester. Police said he was shot in an SUV Thursday morning in Chester and collapsed near the campus of Widener University, which told students and staff to stay inside but lifted the alert soon afterward.

NEW YORK RANGERS PUSH PHILADELPHIA FLYERS TO BRINK OF ELIMINATION

The New York Rangers pushed the Philadelphia Flyers to the brink of elimination with a 4 2 win Sunday. The Rangers have a 3 2 lead in the first round series heading into Tuesday game in Philadelphia. If necessary, a deciding seventh game would take place Wednesday at Madison Square Gardens.

Jack Ramsay, a Hall of Fame coach who led the Portland Trail Blazers to the 1977 NBA championship before he became one of the NBA most respected broadcasters, has died following a long battle with cancer. He was 89. Ramsay, who was born in Philadelphia and attended St. Joseph coached in the NBA for parts of 21 seasons before embarking on a second career as an NBA analyst.
